Institute for Social Research

The Institute for Social Research promotes interdisciplinary research on a broad spectrum of contemporary sociological, psychological, political, and economic problems and community issues. The Institute directly administers interdisciplinary research centers and programs, most of which sponsor conferences and working paper series. In addition, ISSR serves as home to a large archival collection of social science data.

We are located at 2134 Rolfe Hall.

Associate Professor of Anthropology, P. Jeffrey Brantingham, leads an ISR project on Mathematical and Computational Modeling of Crime that seeks to understand the fundamental mechanisms that drive the emergence, spread and dissipation of crime patterns and how various policing strategies maybe used to disrupt crime pattern formation.
